The Ethical Innovation Hub

The Ethical Innovation Hub (EIH) is a transdisciplinary research group, supported by the Institute of the History of Medicine and Science Studies as well as the Institute of Electrical Engineering in Medicine. The EIH is headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Herzog, M.A., Professor for the Ethical, Legal and Social Aspects of AI at the University of Lübeck.

Major topics in the Ethical Innovation Hub's research agenda are

  • Interdisciplinary approaches to integrating ethical considerations in technology development and innovation
  • Ethical and social implications of a digitalized (public) administration
  • Ethics and epistemology of artificial intelligence
  • Scholarship of teaching and learning in engineering ethics and the ethics of technology

Within our work, we strive to conceive of solutions to ethical and societal challenges as neither technical nor non-technical, and, hence, approach challenges in a transdisciplinary and open-minded way.

Please note that the website of the Ethical Innovation Hub is currently undergoing a major overhaul. Some of the contents may therefore be a bit outdated. We would therefore kindly ask you not to hesitate to get in contact with us, should you be interested in the EIH's work.
